(Inter)acting with the Inner Partner

Spring 2026

Courses and Workshops

Open to Applications

A warm welcome back to our regular practitioners.

Tervetuloa! Välkommen! Bienvenue!

Those of you haven’t been with us for a while…It’d be great to see you back!

Culture Current is offering two regular courses this season.

If you’d like to develop your (Inter)acting with the Inner Partner practice, join us for (Inter)acting with the Inner Partner for Continuing Practitioners for weekly practice every Thursday. The sessions will be led by a varied group of experienced IwIPers. The course is partially funded by the Finnish National Agency for Education’s subsidy (opintoseteli), so pensioners, the unemployed, and migrants are warmly welcome!

If you’ve participated in the (Inter)acting with the Inner Partner Workshop on Mondays, you’re welcome to join us for that as well.

Unfortunately, we won’t be offering the twice-a-month Saturday group this season, so please consider joining the Continuing Practitioner group on Thursdays. The course fee has been adjusted to make it affordable even if you cannot attend every week.

For the first time, both these courses will be partially funded by Study Centre Citizens’ Forum (Opintokeskus Kansalaisfoorumi). We are grateful to them for their support!

Later this Spring, we’ll have an (Inter)acting with the Inner Partner Taster for beginning students (one weekend) for people who are itching to give (Inter)acting with the Inner Partner a try, and an (Inter)acting with the Inner Partner Intensive with a guest teacher from the Czech Republic (another weekend). Keep your eyes on our socials and newsletter.

We’ll be ending the season at the beginning of May in order to plan for a busy autumn season.

Looking forward to seeing you on stage soon!
— Alex

You may attend all courses you are eligible for.

Please note that each course is exclusive to the students who have registered for that course. “Hopping” back and forth between courses is not permitted. ☺

Teachers’ Bios (alphabetical order)

Ingrid André works across dance, art and psychosomatic practices engaging a shift in perception. She is curious about remaining present to one’s interiority and expressing what lies beyond familiarity. She discovered IwIP in 2015 while working as one of the performers in a contemporary piece with Hanna Räiskimäki and gradually joined the practice. In IwIP, Ingrid finds an insightful mix of performance, well-being and artistic research while always being surprised by the dialogues within herself. Ingrid is engaged in artistic collaborations in France and Finland while working to bring performative and art practices to social organisations that promote mental health via creative practices.

Henna Hakkarainen is an actor and theater teacher from Helsinki. She mainly teaches poetry recitation and clowning. She has been practicing (Inter)ating with the the Inner Partner for about 10 years. She is interested in dialogical encounter as well as in human inner dialogue.

Riina Huhtanen is a dancer/choreographer and an osteopath. She is interested in somatic practices. In her art, she explores subtle body techniques and the shared space created by movement and kinesthetics between the viewer and the performer. She was introduced to (Inter)acting with the Inner Partner in 2007, and has been practicing it regularly ever since, weekly for the last 7 years.

Alexander Komlosi studied (Inter)acting with the Inner Partner under Professor Vyskočil, the founder of the discipline, at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague for 15 years, and trained under him as an IwIP teacher. He has been teaching IwIP internationally and developing its pedagogy since 1999 through workshops and courses at Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, University of Arts Helsinki – Departments of Drama Pedagogy, Swedish-speaking Acting, Dance, and Open University; Tampere University – Näty,  Aalto University, Takomo Theatre, Valtimon Theatre, and the Swedish Theatre in Helsinki, Adult Education Center Helsinki, Columbia University, New York University/Tisch, Yale University, Rose Bruford College, and Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and as part of Culture Current’s educational program. He has trained and taught the other IwIP teachers in Finland, encouraging them to take IwIP in their own directions. As an actor, he has performed internationally. His most recent performance work was part of Anna Estarriola’s exhbit, Stage Circumstances and Piles of Things, at Amos Rex. He recently completed an MA in Creative Writing Prose Fiction at the University of East Anglia, UK. Now, he is focusing his creative energies on prose fiction.

Hanna Raiskinmäki is an actor and a Shiatsu practitioner. She has been practicing IwIP for 15 years, and leading classes for about 10 years. The most important teachers and colleagues in IwIP have been Alexander Komlosi and Milja Sarkola as well as the whole working group which has been meeting regularly for ten years. She has been experimenting IwIP with her theater and performing arts work. The latest experimentation has been and still is in actor Joanna Haartti’s convened Viiksi Instituutti in Teatteri Takomo.

Heidi Richert

Esko Nuutila had a long career as a university scientist and teacher, and now works in a startup as a software developer. He has been practicing IwIP intensively since 2015 under the supervision of Alexander Komlosi. Esko is interested in somatic fitness in its various forms. In addition to practicing IwIP, Esko teaches tai chi chuan and is a certified Feldenkrais practitioner.

Jenni-Elina von Bagh is a choreographer and dancer-performer based in Helsinki. She works in different collaborations in the field of contemporary performance and creates her own choreographic works, both nationally and internationally artistically travelling between dance, theatre, and arts. Her most recent works are “Void- A Psychodrama” (2021) and “A Prologue” (2020). She has been practicing IwIP for over 10 years, and has lead classes for a few years. She finds IwIP to be a source for personal well-being, but most importantly, a rich source for practicing creativity and personal / collective artistry. She is Artistic Director of Zodiak – Center for New Dance.

The basis of (Inter)acting with the Inner Partner is the experience and experiencing of action (speaking, playing) with yourself (with your inner partner or partners), as a rule, on your own. After some self-reflection, each one of you should be able to recall the experience of talking to yourself or playing on your own with your self. (Inter)acting with the Inner Partner is about studying and learning how to engage in similarly authentic, spontaneous, playful and co-playful action (behavior and experiencing); generating this behavior in public in the presence and attention of “spectators” in a situation of “public solitude” (Stanislavsky), where we do not contact the onlookers in any way (visually or physically), “as if” they weren’t present.

-Ivan Vyskočil (creator of the discipline)
